Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Reelingo Translate ("the extension") collects, how it's used, and how to reach us with questions. We built this extension to be as privacy-respecting as possible — most of what it does happens entirely on your own device.

Caption translation happens on your device

When the extension translates captions on a streaming site, that translation runs using your browser's on-device translation engine. The caption text is not sent to our servers to be translated.

What's stored locally on your device

Your settings (target language, font size, speech rate, which sites are enabled) and any words or example sentences you choose to save are stored locally in your browser via Chrome's extension storage. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us.

What we collect for subscriptions

If you start a free trial or purchase a plan, payment is processed entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your card details. To activate and verify your subscription, our license server stores:

• The email address you provide at checkout (used to identify your subscription and for the "restore purchase" feature)
• Your subscription status and plan type (trial, monthly, or lifetime)
• Stripe identifiers needed to look up your subscription (customer ID, subscription ID)

This information is used solely to determine whether the extension should be unlocked on your device. It is not sold, shared with advertisers, or used for any purpose beyond operating the subscription itself.

Third parties

We use Stripe to process payments and Neon to host our subscription database. Both are bound by their own privacy and security practices.

Data retention and deletion

You can request deletion of your subscription record (email, Stripe identifiers, and status) at any time by contacting us below. Locally saved words, examples, and settings can be cleared by removing the extension or clearing its storage from Chrome's extension settings.

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
